 Incentives & Targets…
Setting targets gives employees something that they can work towards, a goal that they can strive to achieve. Most people love a challenge, so implementing KPIs and targets into the workplace can appeal to employees and bring out their competitive sides. Once you have put incentives in place, such as a bonus at the end of every quarter if certain targets are reached, then you’re sure to notice a big difference in productivity and the way that they perform during the working day. It is a win win situation, because the increased productivity is good for you, and winning the incentives will be good for them.

 Staff Training…
Training and developing your staff is so important so that they know exactly what they’re supposed to be doing, and are able to do it to the best of their ability. Regular training sessions are useful in highlighting any downfalls or weaknesses, so that they can be addressed and improved. This is so important in moving forward and keeping up with (and ahead of) competitors. In addition, if employees feel more knowledgeable and comfortable in the tasks that they’re carrying out, this will ensure employee satisfaction as well as increase productivity.

 Encouraging A Healthy Lifestyle…
Being in a the same working environment every day can often encourage unhealthy habits to emerge amongst employees. These include things such as eating too much unhealthy food like biscuits or cakes, drinking too much tea, coffee or sugary drinks, and even more regular smoking. Instead, by giving employees the option to choose healthier alternatives such as fruit for example, water or fruit juice, this will encourage healthier living. It is also your job to make sure that the workplace is safe and healthy for your staff to work in. For example, poor quality air or air pollution can be a major hazard, so think about installing a ventilation system to ensure your employees are breathing fresh air and not fumes.

 Recognise & Reward Effort…
If you don’t take any notice of when your employees do a great job, it’s likely that they will lack motivation to do well, which is only bad news for the productivity of the company. It’s important to make sure you recognise when employees have been putting in significant effort, in order for it to continue. It could be as simple as having a huddle at the end of each week, and acknowledging specific member of staff who have done noticeably well. You could even set up an employee of the week scheme. This is an incentive that will make employees feel valued, and will encourage them to try hard.

 Work Hard Play Hard…
Although it’s important for your employees to get their heads down and get their work done, there should also be time set aside where they can have some fun together. This could be in the form of team building activities during work hours. Staff days away or nights out are also a great way to for them to unwind, but also get to know each other more and bring the team closer together as a whole.
